Interaction of 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid, Ethylene Chlorohydrin and Glutathione in the Stability of the Microsomal Ribonucleic Acid of Excised Cotton Cotyledons

چکیده
The nucleic acids ot isolated plant tissues were first shown to be affected by plant growth regulators by Silberger and Skoog (1953). They showed that indoleacetic acid treatment would increase the level of ribonucleic acid (RNA) and deoxyribonucleic acid in tobacco pith tissue. Recently, experiments with excised stems of cucumber seedlings (West, Hanson and Key, 1960), and excised cotton cotylelons (Basler and Nakazawa, 1961) showed that the RNA of the soluble protein and microsome fractions disappeared during culture and that 2j 4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid would prevent this loss ot RNA. Other experiments (Chrispeels and Hanson, 1962) showed that the RNA of soybean hypocotyls was increased 175 percent over the control in the microsome fraction at 48 hours after spraying with 2,4-D. It was hypothesized that the herbicide renews nuclear activity in the tissue leading to a synthesis of RNA and protein and that the cytochemical basis of aUXin-herbicide action lies in a reversion to a meristematic metabolism.

Promotion of callus initiation, shoot regeneration and proliferation in Lisianthus.
The effects of plant growth regulators were examined in order to optimize the callus induction, regeneration, and proliferation of lisianthus (Eustoma grandiflorum). In vitro leaves provided the explants for callus induction. Explants were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium with different concentrations of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), and 2,4-dichlorophen...

Immature cotyledons of open-pollinated fruits from three sour cherry cultivars (Prunus cerasus L.) were excised and cultured on Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with various combinations of auxin and cytokinin to induce somatic embryogenesis. Somatic embryogenesis occurred principally when using the combinations of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid plus kinetin. Using a-naphthaleneacetic ac...
متن کاملEffects of Ethylene and 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid on Cellular Expansion in Pisum sativum.
Ethylene inhibits growth in the subhook region of intact etiolated pea seedlings (Pisum sativum, var. Alaska) by reducing the capacity of the polar auxin transport system supplying auxin to the tissue. Application of 0.1 mm 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid reverses the growth inhibition caused by ethylene, and stimulates formation of sufficient gas to induce a swelling response in the absence of ...

Background: 2, 4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, (2, 4-D) is a selective herbicide available as the acids, esters and several salts which vary in their chemical properties, environmental behaviour, and to a lesser extent toxicity. The salt and ester forms are derivatives of the parent acid. It is widely used as a weed killer. The 2, 4-D dimethylamine is one of the salts of this group. Case Presenta...
